I headcanon that Ryley had a pretty high pain tolerance before the crash, but after living on 4546B for a decent chunk of time he can ignore pretty much any pain.

Since he zaps himself with the repair gun like its nothing, and im assuming its atleast a small electric shock, he can deal with sudden sharp bursts of pain easily already.

He also sticks his hand in the repulsion gun, getting atleast (insert condition that is whiplash but for muscles in general. Could google it but erm that didnt go well) and heavy bruising, only to just kinda keep walking like nothing happened?? Obv thats for gameplay reasons but im rolling with it.

Both of these things point to a high pain tolerance already. Pus being on the planet so long, with different adrenaline highs and crashes, it would become easy to ignore "minor" aches and pains or even small cuts and bruising because hes had worse and FELT worse.

And as the kharaa takes hold im thinking that it causes a dull pain on top of the consequences of straining your body constantly, and numbs some of his extremeties so he can only feel the pulsing pain from the kharaa and not if he is cut or bitten.

Building off the numbness that replaces feeling with pain, i bet that would be super freaky for him to experience when we see him use his extremeties VERY frequently to sense things or pry open things. So lack of feeling and coordination from the numbness would be especially catastrophic for him

ALSO kinda seperate but building off the previous statements, i think Ryley has hypermobility!

Im going purely based on my personal experience and the fact that in his stretching animation, after he wakes up, his elbows go WELL past the point of regular flexibility. (probably not what the animators were intending but ya boy does not get any other form of hypermobile representation so im latching onto this)

BUT BCLY im thinking that Ryley has hypermobility, specifically caused by the connective tissue disorder Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (H-EDS). Since H-EDS causes pain from all those tissues not working right, im thinking this is why Ryley has a decent pain tolerance to start, and then as he does impulsive things like testing machinery on himself, he slowly builds a pretty high pain! And then the rest of my theorizing before this happens!! :D

Also yeah im just projecting my condition on my fav guy. It is my favroite hobby to blast them with illness beams and justify it afterwords.

It’s thanksgiving today !!! Meaning… Alex Keller thanksgiving headcanons <3

Alex Keller is obviously an American

So he’d celebrate thanksgiving with his family !!!

•He’s got a HUGE family, so they probably rent out a space for the evening and have a whole lineup of crockpots, baked dishes, dessert table, drink table, kid drink table, alcohol table, etc etc…

• He brings a good pie, some drinks(lemonade and budlight) and plastic silverware too ofc

•LOVES telling stories at the dinner table when he isn’t in exile at the kids table to be with his little cousins who love hanging off of him and getting him all sticky n gross bc he pulled some mean ass prank on the whole family

• He loves seeing his grandmas and grandpas, he gives them a big bear hug(gentler), and a kiss on each cheek

• he never participates in politics talking, probably leaves the room to ‘use the bathroom’ or just doesn’t participate and changes the topics

• when they all go to one persons house to watch a football game, the thanksgiving parade, the dog show or something else, he crashes on the couch and at least one baby gets piled onto him as a napping spot because (big family)

• loves letting his older girl cousins play with his hair and give him a full face of makeup bc they never get to see him aside from the holidays he gets off

• he loves green beans and mixing his plate all around, he gets corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, probably no gravy, but sometimes he does, he gets ham and turkey, and a roll and he mixes everything together in one big pile and smears it onto open rolls and chows down like he hasn’t gotten good food in months(which he hasn’t)

• He talks vaguely about his deployments but only ever tells the light hearted parts like if he hears someone crack a good joke or something good came from the deployment etc

• he has dad jokes for days that he tells his aunts and uncles and parents

• Plays with his cousins even as an adult bc he probably is an only child or has a younger sister that tolerates him

• he hates sweet potatoes. GET THAT SHIT AWAY FROM HIM !!!!! He don’t like them even with the marshmallows

• he loves his grandma’s homemade noodles so so much, they’re just PERFECT no one can match his love for the noodles

• Alex also never takes off the makeup his cousins put on him, he always has to go to a CVS or rite aid and get makeup remover to remove the makeup smeared on his face and gets some candy for himself and other necessities

• he flicks food at his cousins when he’s banned to the kid table, throws a spoon full of mashed potatoes at the littlest toddler aged kid and then blames it on someone else and acts innocent

• He gossips with his teenage girl cousins and games with his teenage boy cousins, a family man, if you will

• loves just watching his great aunt crochet/knitting him a scarf or too small of gloves bc she’s half blind

• loves watching over the babies and just catching up with family
